Recommended bidding sequence:

West North East South
--- pass 1§ 1ª
pass pass dbl pass
pass 2© dbl pass
pass pass.

Pass = Expecting East to reopen with a double, which West will subsequently pass out for penalties. This is called trapping.
Dbl = East comes up with a reopening double indeed. He can hardly have a better hand for that purpose.
2© = Will lead to a better contract in at least 90% of the time. This time, North hits the 10%.
Dbl = Obviously for penalties.

North will be limited to 3 ©-tricks and a spade, provided EW do not play clubs first. In 1ª*, South will only make 3 trumps, if defenders are with their senses.

Recommended bidding sequence:

West North East South
--- --- pass 1¨
1ª dbl pass 1NT
2ª pass pass pass.

Dbl = Generally, a negative double shows 12+ hcp, or 4 cards in the unbid major. This time, North is too weak for a negative free bid of 2©, which would promise 5+ hearts and 8-11 hcp, so the negative double is his only alternative to a pass.
1NT = In response to a negative double, South cannot always have a stopper for his rebid of 1NT. The stopper is more a point of consideration before settling for 3NT. If North needs the ª-stopper, he will certainly cuebid to find out if it's there.

Recommended bidding sequence:

pass pass 1ª pass
3¨ pass 4© pass
pass pass.

3¨ = Bergen raise: 4+ ª-support, balanced hand, 10-11 hcp.
4© = With at least 9 trumps between EW, East can only sign off in 3© with a subminimum. Here, he doesn't even have a 'simple' minimum.

1¨ = Walsh approach, virtually denying 4-card majors, in case South has less than 12 hcp.
3NT = 6§332, 18-19 hcp. With 6331 or 7222, and the same number of hcp, we would open multi-2¨, and rebid 3§ over the expected signoff of 2©.
4§ = Designates clubs as trumps; slamtry.
4¨ = 1st or 2nd round control of diamonds.
4NT = Roman KeyCard Blackwood.
5¨ = 0 or 3 out of 5 aces (1403-variation).
5ª = Asking for specific kings, for with 10 trumps between NS, the queen of trumps becomes less important for grand slam investigation. The odds in favor of catching the queen of trumps in a 6-4 fit are about 90%. South must make sure that 6NT is a solid alternative, should he force North beyond 6§.
6¨ = Announces ¨K.
6© = Announcing ©K, and hoping to hear North having ªK.
6NT = Denies ªK.

North only has to knock out ªK voor his 12 tricks.
