1: Muiderberg weak-2: 5-card ©-suit, 4+
in a minor, and 5-10 hcp. We recommend 5/5+ when vulnerable. (5+
minor, for
Muiderberg with 6 of a major is a 'red' convention, only allowed at
intermediate and higher levels, when opponents have
been notified in writing, with complete explanation, at least a week in
advance. Not smart to use such red convention, for
opponents may consult their defense against it at the table. Solution:
don't call your weak 2-suiter Muiderberg, when your
major is 5+. Technically, it is rarely wise to hold a 6-card
major, so you may as well forget about it.).
2: 2-way preempt like 3©, but South has better
shape than West at board 2.
3: West's position is similar to 4©-pass-pass,
so he should take action.
4: Generally, North should leave to South, for South can be strong as well. This time,
North has no defense, while 5© might
make just like that.
5: West has an above average hand, so balanced East goes for an almost certain plus score.
Analysis to follow.

1: The alternative is a negative double, but this may lead to trouble, when East raises
to 3§. If North bids 3ª afterwards,
South will certainly go to an unmakable game. On a ¨-lead, even 3ª falls 2
tricks short.
2: East is too balanced to take it to the 4-level. If North doubles for penalties, he will
get the bonus he can't earn on his own.

1: North should downgrade for his 4333-distribution.
2: With a strong balanced LHO, and a hesitating RHO, it's unwise to balance with at least
4 hcp wasted.
Analysis to follow.

1: The calls of North and East lift South's hand sunstantially, so a negative
free bid of 2© (5+ ©, 8-11 hcp) is out of the
question.
