1 = Multi-colored, in 90% of the cases a weak-2 in a major: 6- or 7-card suit, 5-10 hcp. If vulnerable, North should have AJTxxx, KQTxxx or better in the major.
2 = Experts don't preempt over preempts, so they wait and see what happens.
3 = 3+ support for both majors, can be constructive or preemptive. Denies interest in slam.
4 = This hand has too much offensive potential to remain passive.
6 = Defending 5¨ looks not very promising, for North's strength is certain to be concentrated in hearts.
7 = West wants to leave final decision to East. he must pass quickly, or else NS will call the cops, or retain the right to do so later (in Europe only).
8 = What else can East do when his side is known to have the balance of the strength?

More discussion to follow.

1 = Hearts are far better than diamonds, so it's wise to not overcall 2NT (Unusual or 2 Lower Unbid Suits), especially at equal and unfavorable vulnerability.
2 = Time to shut up. Remember, North could not even make a negative double.

More discussion to follow.

2¨1 pass2 2NT3 pass
3¨4 dbl5 3©6 pass
4©7 pass pass pass.

1 = Part of Multi Landy: 6+ major.
2 = Double would be for penalty against an undisclosed major, so that call is out of the question.
3 = Forcing relay.
4 = 6-card ª-suit, minimum values. When partner has opened a Multi 2¨, minimum and maximum are reversed to save bidding room to investigate slam. South's 15-17 1NT-opening outrules slam.
5 = Now it's time to double for penalties.
6 = 6+ ©, forcing to game.
7 = Happy to show an unexpected 5-3 fit.

More discussion to follow.
