Recommended bidding sequence:

pass.

1© = When the opponents interfere, NS must hurry to find the ©-fit if it exists. This has nothing to do with Walsh approach, but everything with common sense, so North does not alert.

Recommended bidding sequence:

West North East South
--- --- --- pass
1ª dbl 2ª dbl
3ª pass pass pass.

2ª = When RHO doubles for takeout, single raises can be a lot weaker than this one.
Dbl #2 = Responsive double, asking North to keep the auction going for at least one more round. 3© would just be an attempt to deny NS the part score. South is too strong for that sort of action.
3ª = Non-invitational, just another attempt to give NS a hard time.

More analysis to follow.

Recommended bidding sequence:

West North East South
2ª pass 4ª pass
pass pass.

2ª = Muiderberg weak-2: 5-card ª-suit, 4+ of a minor, and 5-10 hcp.
4ª = Such jumps to game deny any slam interest, but range from preemptive to relatively strong, putting the heat on South, and eventually on North as well.

This is the kind of situation, too many NS pairs will reach 5© on the basis of unauthorized inspiration or information. EW have only one way to protect themselves against such sneaky piracy: always call the director when the opponents ignore the underlying rule of all skip-bid warnings, ordering LHO to think for approximately ten seconds (and not to stare to the ceiling for ten seconds, and then start thinking). Hesitations for clearly more than ten seconds must be disregarded by the partner of the hesitator. If LHO hesitates for subtantially less than ten seconds, he is offending the WBF Laws of Contract Bridge, period.

Well-trained directors would not allow South to bid 5© (after his obligated pause of 10 seconds) when North has passed 2ª after less than 8 or more than 12 seconds, and would never give South the benefit of the doubt (as was common practice up to the mid-eighties), since South's hand by itself, does not justify balancing over East's ambiguous raise to 4ª. The same thing would go for North, if 4ª would be passed around to him.

More analysis to follow.
