1 = In our system, 3NT-opening replaces the natural openings of 4§ and 4¨, so the suit
needs not to be solid. We open 4§ with ©AKQxxxxx or ©AKJxxxxx
and no outsides aces or kings. We use 4¨ to
show a similar ª-hand.
2 = For takeout. If South overcalls 4©, the
better ª-fit may be missed. South is strong
enough to bid 4©, in case North bids a minor.
3 = West has no business to show any preference opposite East's 7+ minor.
4 = Real suit, since East hasn't shwon his minor yet.
5 = If East bids 4¨ now, he gives NS the option
of doubling him for penalties.
6 = 5+ H-suit, 16-19 hcp.
7 = Too little to reach for slam.
More discussion to follow.

1 = East needs very little from West to make game a certainty.
2 = West has more than the good 5-card suit and 8 hcp required for a positive 3§-response, but the 4-card ª-suit should keep him from doing that.
3 = In our system: semiforcing or better hand with 5+ spades, and a 4+
suit somewhere.
4 = Slamtry in ª.
5 = First or second round control of §.
6 = First or second round control of ¨.
7 = First or second round control of ©.
8 = Roman KeyCard Blackwood, 1403-variation.
9 = Odd number of keycards, and void in clubs.
10 = Hoping East brings something extra in hearts.
11 = Nothing left, ©A has already been shown.
More discussion to follow.

1 = In our system, a 2-response opposite 1 of a major requires an opening hand.
2 = 2¨ would be an underbid, 3¨ an overbid. Strictly, South is 1 hcp short for this
rebid, but he has compensation in his aces and king, and his excellent distribution.
3 = If NS have a misfit, 25-26 hcp will not be enough to make, but South only has to bring
2 or 3 clubs to not let that happen.
More discussion to follow.
