1 = West applies the rule of 15: pass in 4th suit, unless the
sum of your number of spades and high card points is at least 15.

1 = South is too strong for an initial overcall.
2 = West should take South for a weak or average takeout double. When RHO interfers, 1NT
should be natural, not a one round force.
3 = Happy that West discharged him from the obligation to bid.
4 = East has no reason to run.
5 = Showing a hand too strong for an initial overcall of 1*S, i.e., 5+ spades,
and 16-19 hcp. With even more strength, South should cuebid 2*H. If EW really have what
they show in the bidding, North virtually has a yarborough. If North has some strength
and/or some fit, he will certainly keep the bidding open, so South has no point in jumping
to game.
More discussion to follow.

1 = Solid 8-card *H-suit, with little outside strength. West should have AKQ or AKJ on
top, but his king of clubs makes up for it. Sort of Namyats
treatment.
2 = Relay, asking West to cuebid.
3 = First or second round control of spades.
4 = Roman KeyCard Blackwood, an excellent tool to check how
solid Wests hearts are.
5 = 2 or 5 aces without queen of trumps.
6 = In general, it is unwise to bid slam when your side is missing one of the 5 aces and
the queen of trumps. With 10 hearts under his command, West will be able to pick up the
queen of trumps in about 90 percent of the time. If EW are missing queen and
jack of trumps, the heart suit will break well in 78% of the time, still more than enough.
More discussion to follow.

1 = Super Michaels, demanding West to bid 4 of a major.
2 = "Aye aye, sir."
Note, that Maas confined with 2*D, and Ramondt
still bid 4*H! Jansen's double was for takeout, but Westerhof
found himself stuck. If we would have taken any action over 4*H, it would have been 4NT,
asking South to pick a minor. We think, Westerhof should have
pulled to 5*C, on the double!
Furthermore, we strongly disagree with De Boer's Muiderberg 2*H.
If vulnerable, West should
have KQxxx, AJTxxx or better in hearts. His 5-card *D-suit is not enough to make up for
his bad hearts. As matter of fact, the 5-card suit is just another requirement for his
vulnerable Muiderberger. Reverse the hands of East and South,
and West is in deep, deep trouble.
More discussion to follow.
