Recommended bidding sequence:

1 = Bergen raise: 4⁺ kaart ª, balanced, 7-9 hp.
2 = Te weinig for even maar een ultieme gamepoging.

EW houden North op 9 tricks with een ¨-start, or ©-start and ¨-switch.

Aan one tafel ontstond het volgende bidverloop:

Vincent Ramondt stak als west zijn nek uit. Anton Mace had with 3§ no keus, and Bauke Muller doubleerde gretig for straf. Ramondt bleef zitten, waar he wellicht 3¨ had must bid. Dat zou, mits North that for straf had gedoubleerd, just for 300 zijn gegaan: § for the jack, §H for the ace, ª for the king (west has nu de vijandige communicatie verbroken), §V, §9 forruffed with the queen, ¨ for the jack, ¨A, ªA ruffed, ©A, ©H, ª ruffed, © for the queen, and the last trick is for ¨T.

3§ ging for liefst 1400: §H, §V for the ace, ¨ for queen and ace, ª for the king, §B, §9, and nog 4 ª tricks voor North. NS verdienden hiermee 16 imps, orwel, een swing van two games op one deelscoreBoard.

Recommended bidding sequence:

1 = Geen weak 2 or zwakke multi-colored with een 4-card suit in the andere hoge suit, als je maat nog niet gepast has.
2 = Deze 11-punter is qua verdeling no kwetsbare derdehands opening waard.
3 = Deze 11-punter is volgens de regel van 15 (som van aantal hcp and ª) no fourdehands opening waard.

Recommended bidding sequence:

1 = Sterk, onder meer een NT-hand with 22-25 hp.
2 = Relay. West kan best meer dan 4 hcp have.
3 = NT-hand, 22-23 hp.
4 = Puppet Stayman, in lagere regionen vaak ten onrechte Niemeyer genoemd.
5 = 1 or 2 hoge 4-card suits.
6 = 4-card suit ª, no 4-card suit © (with 4/4 hoog bids west 4¨, with alleen een 4-card suit © bids he 3ª).
7 = Bevestigt ª-fit.
8 = EW have samen 23-24 hp, maar the ¨-doubleton en the zwarte tens geven the doortrick.

East has het na een §-start for the ace niet easily. He must for example, om the weinige rentrees in west te sparen, vervolgen with ªA and ª voor the queen. South plays nu, and na ¨ for het ace nogmaals ª back. East plays twomaal ©, and ontkomt dan niet aan the finesse op ¨B. North must dekken, want als East the eight and South de nine bezit, has he veel uit te leggen.

Recommended bidding sequence:

1 = Forceert the game (high reverse).
2 = Toont interesse in ¨-slem.
3 = Roman KeyCard Blackwood. Het is zeer onprobably, that South no ©-control has.
4 = 2 van the 5 aces, denies ¨V.
5 = Asks for kings.
6 = Met alleen ©H kan South 5NT bid. He has dus meer.
7 = South must welhacet ©V erbij have. Als de © 4-3 or 3-3 zitten (84% chance), has North al 12 tricks. De dertiende komt wel uit een introever.

Wubbo the Boer bood na 4¨ no 4NT maar 4ª, bedoeld als control for een ¨-contract. Bauke Muller dacht aan een late preferentie, and paste voor een verlies van 13 imps. De © zitten 5-1, maar nu ªV and ªB vallen, has North in 7¨ maar one ª-introever nodig.

Recommended bidding sequence:

1 = 5⁺ card suit ©, 12⁺ hp. 2© promises een 5⁺ card suit © and 8-11 hp, maar that is hier een underbid. North has een fraaie §-fit, and the mooiste 11 hp, die he zich kan wensen.
2 = Met 11 troeven samen must je ook vulnerable wat lef tonen.
3 = South hoort niet te weten, hoe mooi the Chinese §-snit werkt.

North kan via the Chinese finesse 13 tricks make, maar he must zich wapenen tegen het verlies van 1 ¨ trick and 2 § tricks. He takes the gevaarlijke ¨-start, haalt 3x trump, and vervolgt een small § richting South. Legt East een kleintje, dan levert the queen of tien in dummy hem with 100% zekerheid 5 § tricks op. Nu the jack valt, dekt he natuurlijk with the queen. West makes alleen §H and ¨H.
